Following a funding award from Sweden's innovation agency, Vinnova, under the Strategic Vehicle Research and Innovation (FFI) program, MittLogik has reached a milestone TRL 4 completion in its “Interoperable RSU Prototype” project. The project will be featured at the FFI Conference that will be held on 24 September 2026 in Gothenburg, which focuses on collaboration for transformation, sustainable road transport innovation, and Swedish competitiveness.

Sudha Padmanabhan, Chief Technology Officer at MittLogik, says: “Reaching TRL 4 is a major step toward making urban intersections safer for everyone. By focusing our software on open standards, we’ve proven that we can deliver real-time hazard alerts through standardized I2V transmissions broadcast directly to connected automobiles and surrounding road users, without tying road authorities to expensive, proprietary hardware. Our edge platform can run on its own or easily plug into existing roadside units, giving cities a flexible, cost-effective way to protect vulnerable road users.”

The working prototype was engineered by MittLogik’s core team—Abhilash Balan, Sudha Padmanabhan, and Dilip Krishnan, collaborating alongside the Research Institutes of Sweden AB (RISE) in an advisory capacity. The edge perception software platform delivers five key technical pillars:

  • Vendor-Agnostic Sensor Integration

  • Lightweight Edge Metadata Processing

  • Standardized I2V Message Translation

  • Dedicated VRU Safety Focus

  • Modular Dual-Use Architecture

Over the coming months, MittLogik will be seeking partners and public stakeholders' support to validate the edge perception platform through rigorous testing in relevant, controlled environments, including closed test tracks, to successfully achieve TRL 5 completion.
